2026 has its champions: David Valero Serrano and Anna Weinbeer reign supreme
GIRONA CROWNS THE CHAMPIONS OF THE HERO UCI MARATHON WORLD CUP 2026
Dear HEROes,
After six rounds, hundreds of kilometres and thousands of metres of elevation gain, the HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup 2026 has reached its final chapter in Girona, in the spectacular setting of the Costa Brava.
The overall victory in the second edition of the series goes to Spain’s David Valero Serrano of Klimatiza Orbea Team and Switzerland’s Anna Weinbeer of KTM Spada powered by Brenta Brakes, protagonists of an extraordinary season that saw them claim the overall UCI World Cup titles.
The final round, La Tramun Sea Otter Europe, saw the riders take on 88 kilometres and 2,400 metres of elevation gain across the Catalan course. In front of the home crowd, Valero Serrano completed his masterpiece by winning the race and securing the overall World Cup title. Joining him on the podium were newly crowned World Champion Andreas Seewald of Singer KTM Racing from Germany and Norway’s Eskil Evensen-Lie of Metallurgica Veneta MTB Pro Team.
In the women’s race, Anna Weinbeer capped an outstanding season with yet another victory, finishing ahead of Italy’s Claudia Peretti and Spain’s Natalia Fischer of Extremadura Ecopilas. The win further underlined the dominance of the Swiss rider from KTM Spada powered by Brenta Brakes, who had already mathematically secured the overall title after the Black Forest round in Germany.
Alongside the Elite competition, the HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup 2026 also featured a Master classification, with Xavier Calaf Garcia taking the overall victory ahead of Alberto Losada Alguacil. Alexandre Llado Diaz finished third, handing over the leader’s jersey he had claimed last year. In the women’s Master classification, Anna Magoń-Romanów took the overall victory.
In the meantime, keep training, HEROes!
