LA TRAMUN – THE FINAL BATTLE FOR THE RED JERSEY
Dear HEROes,
Here we go! The countdown to the grand finale of the 2026 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup has begun. On Sunday, 20 September, La Tramun Sea Otter Europe in Girona will host the sixth and final round of the World Cup series.
With 88 kilometres and 2,400 metres of elevation gain, the course winds through the landscapes of the Costa Brava and along some of the region’s most iconic trails, delivering a challenge that demands endurance, technical skills and smart race management.
All eyes will be on the battle for the men’s overall classification: Spain’s David Valero Serrano of the Klimatiza Orbea Team, current leader with 940 points and 2026 European Champion, will race on home soil, but he will have no room for complacency as he fights to defend the red leader’s jersey from Belgium’s Wout Alleman, who trails by just 75 points. Joining the World Cup contenders for the season finale from South Africa is Tristan Nortje, winner of the 2026 Cape Epic.
Also on the starting line will be Germany’s Andreas Seewald of Singer KTM Racing, fresh from claiming the title of 2026 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Champion last Saturday, 12 September, in San Martino di Castrozza. Another big name ready to battle it out in the final race of the season.
In the women’s field, Switzerland’s Anna Weinbeer of the KTM Spada powered by Brenta Brakes team arrives in Girona having already secured the overall victory in the 2026 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup with 1,150 points. Fresh from becoming 2026 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Champion last Saturday, 12 September, in San Martino di Castrozza, Italy, Weinbeer can enjoy the final race of the season without the pressure of the overall title.
The battle for second and third place, however, remains wide open, with Natalia Fischer (Team Extremadura Ecopilas, 895 points), Claudia Peretti (780 points) and Paula Gorycka-Kurmann (720 points) all still in contention.
The first riders are expected to cross the finish line from 1:00 pm, while at 3:00 pm, the official ceremony will crown the 2026 UCI World Cup champions.
