THE 2026 HERO UCI CROSS-COUNTRY MARATHON WORLD CUP: LA TRAMUN, THE SEASON’S CURTAIN CALL

These are the last, decisive weeks for the 2026 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup. After months of challenges set in some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Europe, the circuit is nearing its end in Girona, in Spain’s Costa Brava.

On Sunday, 20 September 2026, the La Tramun Sea Otter Europe will once again close a season which was packed with emotions. A day which is the quintessence of the mountain biking marathon. The make-it-or-break-it track boasts 88 km and 2,400 hm set against the backdrop of lush nature which promises awe and wonder around every corner.

The track is a combination of several of Costa Brava’s technical trails, creating a demanding and technical route which will test the athletes’ stamina well as their cycling skills. A relentless race which will make our cyclists sweat and wonder in awe, with every turn and bend in the track opening up to a new landscape, and every second on the bike will be a moment you carry with you in the future.

La Tramun reprises its role in the HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup for the second time in a row. It’s considered one of the most technical and breathtaking marathons on the international scene. That’s hardly surprising as the race is part of the prestigious Sea Otter Europe Festival, one of the world’s most important and well-frequented cycling festivals, which transforms Girona into a global stage dedicated to cycling,

The countdown to the big finale has already started. The HERO UCI Marathon World Cup will kick off on Saturday, 19 September, with a meet and greet and the now traditional HERO UCI Marathon World Cup Race Talk, starting at 11:15 at the Fontajau Pavilion. A unique occasion at the tail end of the season to listen to the athletes, their stories, and what happens behind the scenes.

The final race will kick off on Sunday, 20 September.  The La Tramun Sea Otter Europe will start at 8:30 from Les Planes d'Hostoles. The first Elite cyclists should finish around 13:00, followed by the Elite Women and Master License around one hour later.

The race’s prize-giving ceremony will start at 14:30 but the moment everyone will be waiting for will start at 15:00 – this is when the Sea Otter Europe stage will crown the overall winners of the 2026 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup 2026. The last, festive chapter of the season, a year bursting with emotions, challenges, and unforgettable feats.
