THE HERO COSTA BLANCA: an extraordinary start!

Dear HERO,

The official countdown to the first stage of the 2026 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup has started! The Series will kick off on the Spanish Costa Blanca.

At the starting grid in Calpe-Benissa on 21 February 2026, the first cyclist to show up will be the Men’s Elite at 8 o’ clock on the dot, followed by the Elite Women at 8:10. The route boasts 82 km and 2,700 hm which will be the stage of what represents the thrilling start of another season. New faces and old friends among the Elite and Master Licence categories will flock to the coastal town to pu themselves to the test in this marathon – and there’s plenty of space for amateurs, too. They will kick off at 8:20 – a day bursting with emotions, fun, and adrenaline awaits! Besides the 82 km route, the amateur mountain bikers can also choose a second roue, boasting 50 km and “only” 1,400 hm.

CHILDHOOD VICTORIES

Neither the Elite nor the Master categories will be the first to cross the finish line, rather that honour will go to the young heroes of the HERO Kids Costa Blanca. The race will take place on Saturday, 21 February at 9:30. The young cyclists will be assigned to one of three routes depending on their age, all three starting in Calpe, just like for the other participants of the HERO Costa Blanca:

  • 4-5 years: 700 m (circuit around the HERO Village);
  • 6-8 years: 4.8 km;
  • 9-12 years: 6.3 km;

All the kids of the HERO Kids Costa Blanca will receive a Welcome Pack featuring a HERO race jersey, a HERO cap, and a Trudi wallet which be worn proudly by the young HEROes for day on end after their race.
